Morgan State University,
a coeducational institution, is located in a residential section
of Baltimore, Maryland. The compact campus of twenty-nine academic
buildings, service facilities, and residence halls covers an area
of more than 143 acres. The University offers both graduate and
undergraduate programs of study.
Recently, emphasis
has been placed on the urban orientation of the University. This
emphasis has been incorporated in the graduate programs in particular.
At the graduate level, the University offers the Master of Arts
degree in African-American studies, economics, English, history,
international studies, mathematics, music, sociology, and teaching.
The Master of Business Administration is offered in accounting,
finance, international management, management, and marketing.
The Master of Science degree is offered in educational administration
and supervision, elementary and middle school education, engineering,
science, and transportation.
Professional degrees
are offered in architecture, city and regional planning, and landscape
architecture. The Doctor of Education degree is offered in mathematics
education, science education, and urban educational leadership.
In addition, the Doctor of Philosophy degree is offered in history
and the Doctor of Engineering degree is offered in civil, electrical,
and industrial engineering. The Doctor of Public Health is now
being offered in the School of Education and Urban Studies.
The McKeldin Center,
often called the "living room of the campus," is the
focal point of cultural and social activity for the University
community. Its purpose is to provide all members of the University
community with programs and facilities to satisfy a variety of
out-of-classroom tastes and needs. The McKeldin Center is utilized
according to individual interests for meetings, lectures, music,
movies, reading, and other forms of indoor recreation or simply
for relaxing over a cup of coffee or casual conversation with
friends.
