A Degree In Public Relations
This
major teaches students the skills necessary to manage the media
image of a business, organization, or individual, as well as the
communication processes, including mission statements and group
relations, within organizations.
Students
develop skills in written, verbal, and visual communications as
well as in research and strategic thinking.
They
study the theory and practice of public relations; mass media
as publicity channels; how to prepare press conferences, press
kits, and news releases; institutional advertising copy; and dissemination
of publicity material through the broadcasting media.
